Home Premium cannot connect to network due to "unidentified network" ***
I got a brand new install of Windows Vista Home Premium K on my HP dv2000 series Special Edition computer just 4 to 5 months ago, and even got SP1 The wireless worked fine untill last week. I tried connecting to the usual Ad Hoc network I always used, but I kept getting "limited acess" I tried rebooting, driver roll back, lowering firewall, and static IP, but nothing worked untill I rebooted another time without turning the wireless device off Then the computer got stuck on a Public connection to an "unidentified network" despite no connection on either ethernet or wireless, which the computer recognizes in the Network Connections window. I cannot disconnect from this fictional "unidentified network" neither can I connect to another network to replace it. How can I get my computer to connect to any network again? PS I tried pinging on both situations (limited acess and unidentified network) and both replied that "123.123.123.123 (the static IP I chose) could not send to 123.123.123.1 (another static IP I set up on another computer). The result was equally odd: 4 sent, 4 recieved, 0 lost

Hi, This behavior occurs if the computer downloaded and installed updated for the network driver without success and driver is corrupt. I suggest that you reinstall the network adapter driver. Remove the existed driver first. 1. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter. 2. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device. 3. Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". 4. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. Then, download the latest adapter driver from the following website. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1817074 Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. Before installing the driver or software, I suggest that you temporary disable the anti-virus. If the original connection for the Ad Hoc exists, remove it, and re-create the connection.
